Audition

Next school year a new group will start: the first teen group! This group is for young people who have ambition to play on the big stage. The teen group is the production group.

Audition

Before entering the teen group, you will do a singing and acting audition. This will take place on Friday September 26. You will audition for professionals from the field. The audition is to see where your talents lie. You can also indicate where you want to develop yourself this year.

The audition day will be divided into three parts. You'll be placed in a smaller group. We'll start with a short warm-up to loosen up and ease any audition nerves. Then, you'll be brought in one by one for your solo number. For the final 20 minutes, you'll come in with your group for the performance scene.

Time table:

  • Group 1:    5:15 PM - 6:00 PM

  • Group 2:   6:15 PM - 7:00 PM

  • Group 3:   7:15 PM - 8:00 PM

What do you need for the audition:

  • A song (uptempo or ballad)

  • The instrumental version of your song (on USB)

  • Learned the scene by heart.
  • Please bring the completed audition document with you.
  • Water bottle

You can choose a song from the list or bring your own. Instrumental tapes are available for the songs on this list. Choose the instrumental version in the key that best suits your voice. You can find the scene here.

Tips for the audition:

  • Make sure you prepare well. Often, most nerves arise from wondering whether you know the material well enough.
  • Choose a song that suits your voice. Usually this is a song that you sing often automatically.
  • While practicing, sing at the top of your voice as if you were already on stage.
  • Make sure you know the scene by heart at least a week before the audition. Practice out loud too, so you can try out how to say certain lines. Extra tip: practice with someone who plays the other role.
  • Think about what your character wants in the scene. What's going on? What's the problem? How does your character feel about this?
  • We are not here to judge you, but we are here to support you and bring out the best in you. We want to hear you and see you.
  • Prepare well and do your best during the audition, that is often good enough.
