Audition
Youth Production Group
Rehearsals start the following week at the WG-terrein location.
Audition
The audition consists of two parts:
- Vocal audition (solo) | September 4
- Acting audition (dialogue) and dance audition | September 5
Vocal audition
For the vocal audition, choose a song from the list. Instrumental backing tracks are available for the songs on this list. Make sure you not only know the song by heart but are also able to convey its story through your stage presence.
If you would like to sing a different song, please get in touch. Once your song is approved, you may audition with it.
Tips for the vocal audition:
- Make sure you are well prepared. Often, most nerves stem from wondering whether you know the material well enough.
- Choose a song that suits your voice.
- When practicing, sing at full volume, just as if you were already on stage.
- We aren't here to judge you; we are here to support you and help you bring out your best. We want to see and hear you.
- Prepare well and do your best during the audition. That is often good enough.
Acting audition
For the acting audition, you will perform a scene involving dialogue. Make sure you know both roles thoroughly by heart. This demonstrates that you are well-prepared and capable of memorizing lines for the production.
You might be asked to play just one of the two roles during the audition, or you might play both; the choice is not necessarily based on a specific reason.
You can download the scene below. Make sure you know both roles by heart. During the audition, you will be paired with a scene partner.
Tips for the acting audition:
- Make sure you have the scene memorized at least a week before the audition. You have prepared both parts.
- Practice out loud as well, so you can experiment with how you deliver certain lines. Extra tip: practice with someone playing the other role.
- Learn the lines, but also remain open to what might happen in the moment.
- Respond to the other person.
- Consider what your character wants in the scene. What is happening? What is the problem? How does your character feel about it?
What you need for the audition:
You sing your song from memory.
You have memorized the acting scene and deliver it slowly, loudly, and clearly
Clothes that are comfortable to move in.
