Preparation group

Group A

Group A is the Preparation Group, designed for children in the sixth year of primary school (Groep 6). It is the youngest group within the Amsterdam Youth Music Theatre. In this group, children are introduced to singing, dance, and theatre in a playful way, while also learning how to prepare for a performance professionally.

Time and location

The Preparation group rehearses on Wednesday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:00 PM at the WG-terrein. Group A starts on September 30, 2026.

Start of rehearsal

You may enter 15 minutes before the rehearsal begins. Please wait quietly in the kitchen. Knock on the front door. If no one answers and you are the first to arrive, ring the doorbell BRIEFLY at Ketelhuisplein 45. Do not ring the bell again after that, so as not to disturb the rehearsal.

Rehearsal content

The focus is primarily on training in the disciplines of singing, acting, and dance in a playful manner. 

The children in Group A create their own performance, in which every actor is given the opportunity to grow. In addition to their own show, Group A members also perform as an ensemble in the Junior Production Group's theatrical production. This performance will take place in May 2027.

Planning

We rehearse from September through June. There are no rehearsals during school holidays. See the full annual schedule here.

What do you need

You make sure to bring your gear to every rehearsal. Here is what you are expected to bring:

• Folder (with or without holes, for song lyrics, dialogue, assignments, information, scripts, and other material)
• Notebook
• Pencil and eraser
  
• Water bottle
• Non-slip socks
  
• Comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily.
