Junior Production Group

Groep B

The Junior Production Group is a new group launching in the upcoming school year. It is intended for disciplined children in the final two years of primary school (Groups 7 and 8) who aspire to perform in a theatre production.

Time and location

The Junior Production Group starts on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. During the first semester, rehearsals take place from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. From January 2027, rehearsals will run from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Rehearsals are held at the new location at Meneer de Wit (center for arts and culture).

You may enter 15 minutes before the rehearsal starts. Please wait quietly in the hallway.

Audition

An audition is required to join the Junior Production Group. The audition assesses the children's natural aptitudes. We also look for a suitable role for the performance, taking the child's wishes into account.

Rehearsal content

In the first months of the new year, the focus is on personal and group development, getting to know and trusting one another, and progressing in the disciplines of (choral) singing, acting, and dance.

Singing:

• Vocal technique: breath support, proper vocal usage, singing with the right energy, mouth positioning, twang, timing, phrasing, chest voice (thick vocal folds) and head voice (thin vocal folds), ear training, and solfège.
• Choral and polyphonic singing.
• Song interpretation
  
  

Acting:

• Performance techniques: volume, timing, use of the body, body language, positioning in space.
• Developing freedom in acting
• Types and characters
• Interaction with other players
• Scene interpretation: what is the scene about, what happens, what do you want, what is the problem?
  
  

Dancing:

• Dance techniques: classical positions, use of breath, spatial awareness, correct use of the body. 
  
• Body control 
  
• Conditioning and strength training
• Groove and authenticity
• Various dance styles

Theater performances

The Junior Production Group's theatre performance will take place in May 2027, with support from the Preparatory Group. 

In addition to their own performance, the Junior Production Group members may also participate in the Youth Production Group's performance, scheduled for July 2027. Rehearsals for this production will take place during the regular rehearsal times; furthermore, in the final weeks, the children may join the Youth Production Group for rehearsals on Friday evenings at the WG-terrein.

Planning

We rehearse from September through April. The Junior Production Group's theatrical performance takes place in May.
After that performance, rehearsals continue—this time for the Youth Production Group's show, in which this group also participates. During the final weeks, members are permitted to attend the Youth Production Group's rehearsals as well. 

There are no rehearsals during school holidays. The full annual schedule will follow shortly.

What do you need

You make sure to bring your gear to every rehearsal. Here is what you are expected to bring:

• Folder (with or without holes, for song lyrics, dialogue, assignments, information, scripts, and other material)
• Notebook
• Pencil and eraser (for taking notes. You can attach this to the folder so you always have it with you.)
  
• Water bottle
• Lax-vox tube
• Comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily.

Lax Vox

The Lax Vox method will also be used during choir and vocal rehearsals. Ideally, a Lax Vox tube is used; you can purchase one yourself, or it can be purchased for you. The cost is €5.
